Description

Complete CO Monitoring and Flight Data Integration

The Guardian Avionics smartLink 355 is designed for homebuilt and Experimental aircraft, combining Carbon Monoxide detection, flight data connectivity, and wireless integration in one compact system.

The smartLink 355 works with the Guardian Avionics and smartMFD app, allowing compatible flight, navigation, engine, attitude, and CO data to be displayed and recorded on an iPad or iPhone.

For installation flexibility, the smartLink 355 can be remotely mounted behind the instrument panel or installed directly in the aircraft panel.

Built Around Trusted CO Protection

Guardian Avionics has developed aircraft Carbon Monoxide detection technology since 2003. The smartLink 355 incorporates Guardian’s proven CO sensing technology to continuously monitor cabin conditions and alert the pilot when elevated CO levels are detected.

The onboard CO sensor provides:

  • Initial warning when CO levels reach 50–99 PPM
  • Approximately 3.5-minute delayed alarm within the 50–99 PPM range
  • Immediate warning above 100 PPM

Bluetooth, Wi-Fi & Wearable Connectivity

Built-in Bluetooth BLE allows the smartLink 355 to automatically connect with compatible Apple and some Android devices, including smartphones and smartwatches.

When connected, supported information can include:

  • Carbon Monoxide levels
  • Heart rate data
  • Blood oxygen data

Compatible data from a connected watch can also be displayed on the Garmin G3X alongside CO information.

The smartLink 355 communicates with the Guardian Avionics smartMFD iOS app through both Bluetooth and Wi-Fi, providing wireless access to aircraft and flight information.

Connect Your Avionics to smartMFD

Through RS-232 integration, the smartLink 355 can connect with compatible GPS, engine monitoring, and Garmin G3X equipment.

Flight, navigation, engine, attitude, and CO data can then be transmitted to the Guardian Avionics smartMFD app, turning your iPad or iPhone into a compact multifunction display with:

  • VFR and IFR maps and charts
  • Engine performance data and graphs
  • Mini PFD/MFD functionality
  • Real-time Carbon Monoxide monitoring and alerts

Record and Review Your Flight Data

The smartLink 355 provides onboard flight data recording using a 16 GB memory card. Flight information collected through the smartMFD system can be uploaded to the Guardian Avionics smart cloud data platform through cellular or Wi-Fi connectivity.

With smartData, you can:

  • Review flight tracks
  • Analyze engine performance
  • View detailed charts and graphs
  • Export flight data
  • Share flight information

Multiple Capabilities in One Compact System

The smartLink 355 combines several useful aircraft functions into one installation, helping reduce the need for multiple separate components.

The system brings together:

  • Carbon Monoxide detection
  • GPS signal boosting
  • Backup AHRS
  • Flight data recording
  • Bluetooth and Wi-Fi connectivity
  • RS-232 avionics integration

The result is a compact and practical solution for Experimental and homebuilt aircraft owners looking to add CO protection while expanding their aircraft’s connected flight-data capabilities.

Recalibration

Because of their sensitive nature, all carbon monoxide (CO) detector sensors require replacement after a period of time to remain accurate. All Guardian Avionics / CO Guardian aviation CO detectors feature a self-test at power on for each flight. If the unit shows a failure of the CO sensor upon power up, you must send the unit to Guardian Avionics for replacement or overhaul. Depending on level of use, storage environment, and flight environment, most CO sensors have a usable life of 5-7 years. Though our units have a required Time Before Overhaul (TBO) of Seven (7) years from point of installation regardless of self-test results, we recommend sending in your unit for replacement / recalibration every 5 years during your annual maintenance inspection to assure safety and accuracy of your unit.

The procedure for recalibration is as follows:

  • Remove component and note full model number and unit serial number.
  • Apply for an RMA Number at: guardianavionics.com/pages/rma-request or call 520-889-1177 (M-F, 8am to 5pm MST) - the RMA number will be emailed back to you.
  • Order a recalibration or new replacement at guardianavionics.com/pages/recalibration.
  • Send unit in under RMA number to: Guardian Avionics, Attn: RMA #___, 1840 E Valencia Rd, Suite 216, Tucson, AZ 85706
  • Once unit is received by Guardian Avionics, the recalibrated or replaced unit will be shipped within 3-5 business days unless specified. Core charge will be refunded.
  • Upon receipt of the recalibrated/replaced unit, a fresh 1 year limited warranty applies and the unit has a fresh 7 year TBO.
